When I worked radio station at Purdue WXLAY 106.9 Lay radio(free music and cd’s) we recieved original ep on vinyle. which i still have to this day. we played at my wedding (yes cheesy) but my wifey loved it.
H&C recorded a version in 1984 as a non-album single… then again for the Human Frailty album in 1986 – then a third version in 1990 for their “Collected Works” compilation.
@Neilidity From my recollection, the original single was mastered from a 4 track cassette recording but none of the radio stations except 2JJJ would play it for the reason that it wasn’t hi-fidelity enough for FM radio. For me the original recording has far better lyrics than any subsequent recordings of this song.
I prefer this version to that which seems to get played on the radio all the time these days (which I do not believe is live either – just another studio version).
No offense to H+C or anything, but this song sounds a hell of a lot bette rodne live. There’s something about the studio version that make sit sound too overproduced IMO.
You have no idea how jealous Neil Finn is of this song. I think Crowded House have sung this song live more than Mark Seymour has!
this song always reminds me of my pet cow. God I miss her and all the sweet cuddles we had. i never had a cow thats been able to take my constant affections since. R.I.P. daisy
Sorry, but these guys are great.
If you ever had seen them live you would likely have a different opinion.
Be nice.
Your mother raised you for better.

He’s right you guys are wankers and the Saints have got as much chance as me and Jen Hawkins. Bombers top 6 and pushin next year come get some fockers. Also Crows can officially embrace the ‘Finals Chokers’ tag. Bless ‘em.

I’m pretty sure he’s one of their trumpet players, but obviously isn’t needed for the song.

Who’s the random guy at 2:12? A backup singer?

you always left h&c gigs buggered from the singing and bourbons…it was like being in a choir when these guys played. Good times.

Sorry, there are SO many better australian bands than this trash.
Hunters and Collectors were the best Australian band and they’ve got more talent than you do pal!

I never thought anyone could make Throw your arms around me a cool sounding chorus
Wikipedia says it was recorded in October 1984. Presumably it calmed down after that.
OMG this song is just GORGEOUS, Mark is a phenomenal singer/songwriter!!!
